Nutritionist

Margaret K Kabahenda is Senior Lecturer in the School of Food Technology Nutrition and Bioengineering, Makerere University. She is a nutritionist holding a PhD (University of Georgia); MSc (University of Georgia); BSc. (Southern Illinois University Carbondale); and AAS (Parkland College)

Margaret research focuses on developing nutrition intervention models for different segments of the population. She has developed interventions to support nutrition during pregnancy, breastfeeding practices, complementary feeding, and school nutrition. 

Dr. Kabahenda also engages in multidisciplinary research and food product development initiatives to improve consumption of underutilized foods so as to enhance nutrition.  Margaret has also supervised and mentored several young scientists at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
