The 13th International Working Conference on Stored Product Protection (13th IWCSPP) that was to be held in Uganda in October 2022 under the auspices of Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, Makerere University and the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) has been postponed due to loss of preparatory time occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the subsequent restrictions to international travel.

The 13th IWCSPP will now take place in Kampala, Uganda, October 2026 (specific dates to be announced later). The conference will be organized around the Theme “Advancing Research, Technology and Innovations in Stored Product Protection for Sustainable Food Security”, which generally inform the global emerging science, technology, tools and innovations on Stored Product Protection agenda. Proposals for special sessions in the conference will be accepted. The conference subthemes are:

  1. Biology, ecology and behaviour of stored products pests and their relationship to pests’ management, and climate change
  2. Engineering for stored product protection and pest prevention
  3. Fumigation, controlled atmospheres, and hermetic storage
  4. Integrated pest management systems for stored product pests
  5. Microbiology and food safety
  6. Quarantine and regulatory aspects of stored product pests and protection
  7. Chemicals for stored product pests’ control (including resistance)
  8. Physical and biological control of stored product pests
  9. Gender, policy and governance issues affecting management of stored product pests
  10. Postharvest management extension
