Food and Nutrition Scientist

Dr. Nabubuya is a Ugandan Food and Nutrition scientist. She is a Senior Lecturer committed to teaching and research in Food and Nutrition science related areas.

Agnes graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, from Makerere University, in 2001, in 2008, she was awarded a Master of Science in Applied Human Nutrition, also by Makerere University and in 2013, and she was awarded a PhD in Food Science by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. She also attended a summer course in Public health at Harvard School of Public Health in 2014.  

She has worked in Makerere University for the past 20 years, where she started as a teaching Assistant and went through the ranks. She has taught several courses in colleges of Veterinary Medicine and now in College of Agricultural and Environmental sciences.

She is passionate about improving the nutritional status of people, especially the vulnerable population, through utilizing locally available and underutilized food crops in increasing the nutrient-density of their diets, using relatively cheap and sustainable technologies.

Agnes has written several projects that have utilized non expensive technologies in improving nutrient densities of diets and a number of publications have resulted from the above.
