The College of Agricultural and Environmental Science (CAES) is made up of three schools, two research institutes and 14 centres. The College has 900.08m2 of teaching space on campus, complemented by off-campus space, eight libraries, 19 research laboratories, six computer laboratories, and one GIS laboratory. In terms of human resources, CAES has a total of 380 employees. Of these, 174 are academic, 147 support, 44 contract and 19 part time staff.
CAES Schools and Departments
The School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS) is comprised of three Departments, namely:
- Department of Animal and Range Sciences,
- Department of Soil Science and Land Use Management (DeSOLUM)
- Department of Crop Science and Horticulture (DeCHS)
- Department of Agri-business and Natural Resource Economics (DANRE)
- Department of Extension and Innovation Studies (DEIS)
The Departments offer undergraduate and graduate (Masters and PhD) degree programmes in their respective disciplines.
The School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bioengineering (SFTNB) is composed of two departments:
- Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE)
- Department of Food Technology and Human Nutrition (DFTHN)
The Departments offer undergraduate and graduate (Masters and PhD) degree programmes in their respective disciplines. The SFTNB also hosts the Food
Technology and Business Incubation Centre (FTBIC).
The School of Forestry, Environmental and Geographical Sciences (SFEGS) is composed of three Departments namely:
- Department of Forestry, Bio-diversity and Nature Conservation (DFBNC)
- Department of Tourism
- Department of Environment Management (DEM)
- Department of Geography, Geo-Informatics and Climatic Sciences (DGGCS)
