Dr. Elizabeth Ahikiriza is a Lecturer at Makerere University, Uganda. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics, a Master of Science in Nutrition and Rural Development (Major: Rural Economics and Management). She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management.
Dr. Ahikiriza’s PhD research focused on increasing agricultural productivity with targeted extension and advisory services: Lessons from Ugandan dairy farming. During her final year of PhD research (2023), Dr. Ahikiriza was selected by the Office of the chief economist, Africa region as one of the World Bank Group Africa Fellows. While there, she was attached to World Bank-UNHCR Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement where she supported various projects for one year.
Before joining Makerere University, Dr. Ahikiriza worked as a Project Assistant at Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) under Uganda Multi-Sectoral Food Security and Nutrition Project and later as a Research Assistant at National Agricultural Research Organization, Kawanda.
Currently, her research interests are in the areas of agricultural development interventions and how they affect livelihoods, nutrition and sustainable food systems; agribusiness value chains, renewable energy and climate change.
