Join us for a film screening to hear the community voices in a Batwa-led film about Resilience, happening on 14th May 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00PM  at Makerere University.

Ihamba is a documentary film about the Batwa of Kanungu who were evicted from their ancestral forest in the name of conservation. Through personal stories, the film reveals the pain of losing access to sacred places, traditional foods, and cultural practices – but also the strength and resilience of Batwa communities. From elders to youth, the film shows how the forest remains central to Batwa identity and wellbeing. The goal of this film is to share Batwa voices for various audiences within and outside of Uganda.

Date and Time: Wednesday 14th May 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00PM EAT.
