The current President of African Development Bank Group (AfDB) Dr. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina is expected to be physically present for the award of the Honorary Doctorate on the last day of the Makerere University 71st Graduation Ceremony on Friday 21st May 2021 at the Makerere University Freedom Square.
Dr. Adesina, an agricultural economist by training and practice is to be honored for his distinguished contribution to Science, research and academic leadership, Reform and thought leadership, Catalyzing Africa’s social and economic progress, Partnerships, networks and advocacy for development.
Dr. Adesina led the effort to develop a Collaborative Masters in Agricultural and Applied Economics in Africa where Makerere University is a beneficiary. This programme currently involves 16 universities and 12 African countries.
Adesina’s Honorary Doctorate Justification will be presented by the Principal, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Prof. Bernard Bashaasha.
