Dr. Kamatara Kanifa

Dr. Kamatara is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Production, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Makerere University.

Kamatara holds a Doctorate in Agriculture with a specialization in meat Science. She posses over 10 years of experience in Animal Science research with emphasis on utilization of indigenous cattle and goat breeds for enhanced production of quality meat. In addition to research, Kamatara teaches and supervises both postgraduate students.

Kamatara Kanifa has worked at Makerere University for over 10 years and is currently. She is currently lecturing Livestock production systems. Kamatara conducts research in slaughterhouse practices, carcass grading and meat quality assessment with an emphasis on eating. She worked with Uganda Cooperative Alliance as a Production and Marketing Officer. She offers expertise on animal genetic-nutrition and slaughter-post-mortem handling interactions on meat quality.

She has supervised 6 undergraduate students to completion and currently supervising 3 PhD students. She was published in peer reviewed journals and a reviewer to 2 international journals. Download CV below.
