Ms. Patricia Nagawa Kiggundu, Administrative Assistant

Patricia is a passionate Geography teacher, an enthusiastic researcher in the field of Environmental Geography and an administrator at Spire High School- Gayaza. She holds a Degree of Bachelor of Arts with Education majoring in Geography from Makerere University and was a Secretary of the Makerere University Geography Society (MUGS) during the time.

Geography as a discipline has given her a strong foundation in geographic knowledge creating more zeal in Food security, Sustainable communities/cities, Climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation strategies, Disaster risk management, Environmental governance and Geographic Information Technology with a focus on spatial analytics.

Since 2021, she has worked as a Research Assistant on the Resilient Urban Food Systems Project (RUFS_Uganda) funded by SIDA under the Agriculture for Food Security 2030 Programme (AGriFoSe2030); which is implemented in Kasese Municipality and Mbale City by the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Climatic Sciences, Makerere University. The project focuses on elements of Food Security, Sustainable Cities and communities which has built her skills in the field of research. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Geographical Sciences at Makerere University with her research interest focusing on the vulnerability of Smallholder Horticultural farmers to agricultural risks in Mbale-City Region.

She is highly dedicated towards developing personal skills, having more experience through advanced technology and learning and being mentored by experienced personnel in the fields of Geography, Policy and Research. She intends to change her community through the knowledge got from all experiences at levels of education so as to transform it and have it sustainable.

 

As an Administrative Assistant, Patricia supports the SET Project in the following areas;

  • Research/data collection and synthesis as assigned by the Project Team;
  • Processing necessary documentation as assigned by the Project Team
  • Facilitation during public engagement activities as defined in the project
  • Participate in all project and planning meetings.
