The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) in conjunction with the PBS program of Open Forum for Agriculture Biotechnology (OFAB) invites Makerere staff from Bioscience based departments and postgraduate students for a two -hour sensitization seminar about the Biotechnology and Bio safety Bill currently before parliament.
The seminar is scheduled to take place on April 4th, 2012 at the Conference Hall, School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bio engineering starting 10:00 a.m – 12:00 noon.
Uganda has been in the process of formulating a biotechnology regulatory framework for over 10 years. A policy which gave in - principle support for the application of biotechnology was approved by government in 2008 and currently before parliament and consultations are going on.
